MARK CROSSINGHAM
MD, Universal Music Ireland
Hailing from Woking in Surrey (That's Paul Weller country!), Mark Crossingham is the managing director of Universal Music Ireland. His earliest musical memories include gigs by Black Sabbath at the Hammersmith Odeon and The Stranglers at Surrey University. His entry in the Music Business was in 1986 as a sales rep for Warners UK (then WEA). During his first week he found himself at a WEA International Conference in Montreaux in Switzerland, listening to the top names in Jazz - having previously been a sales rep for Knorr soup.he knew he'd made the right career decision! Along the way he has held key positions MCA Records, Universal Interscope and Island Records. He was made head of Universal Music UK's Consumer and Media Division before becoming Senior Vice-President of International Marketing and General Manager of Universal's Concord Music Group.   Crossingham was appointed to run Universal Ireland in September 2008. He sits on the board of IRMA and his career has seen him involved with campaigns for such major acts as Snow Patrol, Keane, The Hives, PJ Harvey, Def Leppard, Bjork, Elton John and U2. He was hugely instrumental in the signing of Hozier and, latterly, Dermot Kennedy. Other recent homegrown signings include Walking On Cars, Fangclub, Chasing Abbey and Lyra.
